BURNEY, Calif. (June 4, 2024) – California State Senator Ben Allen (D-24) introduced a resolution to the California State Assembly that demonstrates strong support for the designation of Sàttítla National Monument and the Kw’tsán National Monument in southern California. The resolution is now poised to move it's way through the California legislative process.

The Pit River Nation welcomes this news and the growing support for our request of President Biden and our Congressional Delegation to protect our Ancestral homelands as a national monument and to include our Tribe in the management and stewardship of Sáttítla.

The following statement is from Yatch Bamford, Chairman of the Pit River Nation:

“Our Tribal Nation welcomes the support and the spirit of collaboration demonstrated by Senator Allen's resolution. California's elected leaders are in a position to help Pit River advocate for better protections of our homelands and together we can ensure the White House hears our shared call for action.

Thank you, Senator Allen, for helping us in this fight and building the support of the California legislature."
